Papers of Dr. Arthur "Art" George Tillman, a faculty member at Western Illinois State Teachers College, later Western Illinois State College, from 1928-1957. Western Illinois University's academic building Tillman Hall is named after him. Tillman was head of WIU's Geography and Geology Department and taught geography, geology, meteorology, and nautical and aerial navigation. Dr. Tillman's wife, Dr. Florence Whitebeck Tillman, was also a geographer by training and assisted her husband in his duties. She also taught for a semester at Western. The collection includes research notes and publications by Dr. A. G. Tillman and by Dr. Florence Tillman; some teaching materials; and extensive documentation of North American field trips led by the Drs. Tillman during the 1930s-1960s.
